How to cut a tall cake

Skip the wedges and work in straight strips. This makes a tall cake easier to divide into even servings.

  1. 1

    Prepare a board

    Hold a clean cutting board against the side of the cake.

  2. 2

    Cut a strip

    Cut straight down and carefully let the strip fall onto the board.

  3. 3

    Divide the strip

    Lay the strip flat and cut it into evenly sized servings.

  4. 4

    Repeat and serve

    Continue strip by strip until everyone has a slice.

Tip: use a long, sharp knife and wipe it clean between cuts.
